One of my students pointed this out to me. I told my dad and he bought one right away. The deal apparently ends tonight. If you go to Dell.com and log into the "small business" part of their web site, they're selling their 20" flat panel monitor for $749 (normally $1000). Needless to say, it's a great deal.

Why do all the best deals happen far away from me?

The monitor that you are referring to - the Dell 2001FP - is, from what I understand, one of the best flat panels available.

It has s-video in, which I really want when I upgrade from my 15" TFT.

I emailed my Dell account rep last night at 11pm for a quote & I got the price held for me and a few days to mull it over. If you qualify for a SMB account - get one and make friends with your assigned Dell rep and email them your carts. I've had really good results. A machine I configured on-line was $1000 less through my rep (Dual Xeon 2GB RAM etc....). They had an unadvertised buy 2 get one free deal on workstations the other day. I got a three P4 2.8/1GB/60GB Optiplex workstations w/17" LCD's for about $1300 each.
